It’s back to school season! Is your home and family ready for the new school year? Say goodbye to stressful mornings and evenings with these 5 tips!
1. Clean & Declutter
Why do we only do spring cleaning? School cleaning is a go-to for many parents. Getting rid of unnecessary clutter in your home will not only make you feel for organized but will also help your child feel prepared for the new school year.
2. Calendar
Get a fresh new calendar for the school year. It will fill up very quickly so it might be best to have one calendar dedicated to school activities, fundraisers and whatever else your child will bring home. This will help you visualise what needs to be done for which day.
3. Study Corner
As your child gets older they will have more and more homework to do. It’s important that they have a space to get this done at home. Rather than having them sit at the dining or kitchen table, it might be a good idea to install a desk in your home study or their bedroom. Preferably, choose a space without a TV so they can fully concentrate on the task ahead.
4. Meal Prep
We all have some crazy mornings where you throw anything you have left in the fridge for your child’s lunch. Make your mornings easier by meal prepping lunches on Sundays. This will simplify your life. If you really want to be organized, label the lunches by child and day in the fridge so they can easily take their lunch every morning.
5. Make it a Routine!
Make an action plan with your child. At the end of every school day their backpack should go in the same spot, any letters or forms should go in a basket and anything else you think may benefit your lifestyle. This will ensure that there is no “Where did my backpack go?!” two minutes before they have to leave for the bus. It may take a week or so to get into a routine together, but in the end you’ll find it much simpler.
